Microstructure characterisation and constitutive modelling of waterborne epoxy resin modified bitumen emulsion

چکیده
From the pavement construction emission perspective, bitumen emulsion is considered more environment-friendly than conventional because of its much lower temperature. However, faces major concern low mechanical strength especially at high service temperatures. To improve performance emulsion, waterborne epoxy resin can be used as a modifier. Nevertheless, there still lacks fundamental understanding on effects microstructure and rheological performances residual emulsion. fill this gap, study aims to investigate develop constitutive model resin-modified residue (WEBER). achieve objective, confocal laser scanning microscopy was first adopted characterise WEBER. The frequency sweep tests were then conducted, ‘2S2P1D’ applied simulate WEBER’s dynamic response different loading frequencies. results indicated that formed polymer-rich film around phase in when content reached 3 wt%, well describe

Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Chemically Modified Epoxy Resin
Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA), having number average molecular weight (Mn) 375, was modified by incorporating the hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) based prepolymer using isophorone diisocyanate as a coupling agent. To increase the compatibility between the epoxy resin and HTPB part, polar groups were introduced in the later to achieve physical and chemical interactions between...
متن کاملCold in-place recycling with bitumen emulsion
The cold in-place recycling (CIPR) is a process where the existing bituminous pavement is recycled without application of heat. In CIPR process the scarified material from the existing pavement is crushed to the required gradation and binder in cold form (emulsion or cutback or foamed bitumen) is added. Externally acquired Reclaimed Bituminous Pavement (RBP) or fresh aggregates are also added d...

The goal of this research was to study the curing behavior and biodegradability DER 736 modified with epoxidized oleic acid. In this paper we demonstrate the efficient epoxidation of oleic acid with performic acid generated in situ from formic acid and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of H2SO4 as catalyst. The highest relative epoxy yield of 61% was achieved at 40 ͦC after 10 h. DER 736 modifie...
متن کاملAssociation of Asphalt Paving Technologists A Study of Cement Modified Bitumen Emulsion Mixtures
Earlier studies have demonstrated the beneficial effects of adding Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) to bitumen emulsion mixtures. These effects were confirmed for some dense graded mixtures based on recipes currently used for hot mix in the UK and being considered for use in cold mix. Laboratory tests included stiffness modulus, resistance to permanent deformation and resistance to fatigue cracki...
متن کاملSurface Sizing Application of Waterborne Epoxy Resin on Low Basis Weight Paper
Reducing basis weight could lead to huge savings of forest resources as well as energy consumption and waste treatment in the papermaking process. However, low basis weight paper generally lacks normal strength and stiffness. The lower the basis weight of the paper, the more important is surface sizing. Highly cross-linked cured epoxy resin, due to its epoxy group and phenyl group, has gained s...
